Entre la espada y la pared

Salmo 40:1-2

Pacientemente esperé a Jehová, y se inclinó a mí, y oyó mi clamor. Y me hizo sacar del pozo de la desesperación, del lodo cenagoso; Puso mis pies sobre pena y enderezo mis pasos.

Todos nosotros en algún momento en nuestras vidas no hemos sentido entre la espada y la pared. Son esos tiempos donde los problemas y situaciones difíciles de nuestras vidas son tan agobiantes que nos desesperamos buscando una solución. Es en esos momentos difíciles donde muchas veces nos preguntamos porque Dios permite estas situaciones en mi vida.

La Biblia nos asegura que Dios nunca nos abandona o nos deja solos. El está con nosotros cada paso y nos lleva en Sus brazos a través de cada una de nuestras dificultades. Dios, en ocasiones permite que sus hijos enfrenten momentos difíciles para hacernos crecer y madurar en nuestra fe. Es a través de estas experiencias que vemos Su grandeza y misericordia derramarse en nuestras vidas. Estas experiencias difíciles nos ayudan a profundizar nuestras raíces de fe. Es como un árbol, mientras más profundas son sus raíces, más fuerte es el árbol. Es fácil seguir a Dios cuando las cosas están bien. Pero es en esos tiempos difíciles, cuando nos encontramos entre la espada y la pared, donde aprendemos a confiar en Dios y crecemos en nuestro caminar con El. Es en esos tiempos  cuando nos encontramos caídos, donde tenemos la oportunidad de demostrar nuestra fidelidad a Él. Es en los tiempos difíciles donde aprendemos las cosas que no aprendemos en los tiempos de abundancia.

Tú escoges la actitud a seguir cuando vienen los tiempos difíciles. Puedes escoger el pánico y la desesperación o puedes escoger confiar en Dios. Puedes abandonarlo o puedes buscar más de Él. Tú escoges responder fielmente. La respuesta es tuya. Que Dios te bendiga y te guarde y que permita que estas palabras te ayuden a renovar tu espíritu.

Between a rock and a hard place
Psalm 40:1-2
I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry.  He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.

There is a good chance that some time in your life you felt between a rock and a hard place. These are the times when the problems and difficult situations in your lives are so overwhelming that we are desperate for a solution. It is in these difficult times where many times we wonder why God allows these situations to occur.

The Bible assures us that God will never leave us or forsake us. He is with us every step of the way and He takes us in His arms through each of our difficulties. God sometimes allows His children to face hard times, to make us grow and mature in our faith. It is through these experiences that we see His greatness and mercy poured out in our lives. These difficult experiences help us to deepen our roots of faith. It's like a tree; deep roots make for strong tree. It's easy to follow God when everything is going well. But when times get tough, when we are between a rock and a hard place, that’s where we learn to trust God and grow in our walk with Him. It is in these times, when we are fallen, that we have the opportunity to show our faithfulness to Him. In the difficult times of life we learn things we could never learn in the times of abundance.

You must choose the attitude to follow for the difficult times. You can choose to panic and despair or you can choose to trust God. You can turn away from the Lord or turn toward the Lord. You will have to choose to respond in faithful confidence. The choice is yours. May God bless and keep you and allow these words to help you renew your spirit.

Fidelidad de Dios/God's Faithfulness

La Fidelidad de Dios

La Infantería de Marina de los Estados Unidos tiene un lema que dice: “Semper Fidelis”. Tal vez usted lo ha visto en las ventanas o parachoques de los automóviles. La palabra “Semper Fildelis” está compuesta de dos palabras latinas que significan, “Siempre Fiel”. Cuando decimos que Dios es fiel, estamos diciendo que podemos depender en El. Dios es fiel cuando estamos en situaciones difíciles. Aun en medio del dolor, podemos contar con la fidelidad de Dios. El nunca nos abandona o nos deja solos. Su fidelidad hacia nosotros no cambia aunque las circunstancias alrededor nuestro digan lo contrario. Dios es fiel cuando sentimos que estamos a la deriva. Dios es fiel y el nos mantendrá firmes hasta el final. Nuestra fe puede flaquear, pero Dios se mantiene fiel hasta el final. Dios es fiel cuando enfrentamos tentación. El apóstol Pablo escribe en 1 Corintios 10:13: “Pero Dios es fiel, y no permitirá que ustedes sean tentados más allá de lo que puedan aguantar. Más bien cuando llegue la tentación, el les dará también una salida a fin de que puedan resistir”. Dios es fiel cuando fallamos. Juan nos dice que El es fiel y justo para perdonar nuestros pecados.

Dios es fiel a su carácter. La fidelidad de Dios significa que todo lo que El dice y hace es seguro. El es 100% seguro, 100% todo el tiempo. Que el Señor te bendiga y te guarde y que permita que estas palabras puedan renovar tu espíritu.

God’s Faithfulness

The United States Marine Corps has a slogan that says: "Semper Fidelis". Maybe you've seen the bumper stickers or window decals. The word "Semper Fildelis" is composed of two Latin words meaning "Always Faithful." It's really the code of conduct and character of these brave Marines serving in this branch of the U.S. Armed Forces. It is a description of loyalty, and a definition of their lives as Marines. "Always faithful" is the purpose and dedication of these men and women who carry the title: Marine.

The Scripture tells us that God is a God who is "Always Faithful". God’s faithfulness goes hand in hand with the character and the truth of God. When we say that God is faithful, we are saying that we can depend on Him. God is faithful when we are in difficult situations. Even in time of difficulties and pain, we can count on God's faithfulness. He never leaves us or forsakes us. His faithfulness to us does not change although the circumstances around us say otherwise. God is faithful when we feel that we are adrift. God is faithful and He will keep us strong until the end. Our faith can falter, but God remains faithful to the end. God is faithful when we face temptation. The Apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 10:13: "God is faithful, and not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. Rather, when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. " God is faithful when we fail. John said that He is faithful and just to forgive our sins.

God is faithful to his character. God’s faithfulness means that everything that he says and does is certain. He is 100% reliable, 100% all the time. May the Lord bless you and keep you and allow these words to renew your spirit.

Marcos 8:34

“El que quiera venir en pos de mi, niéguese a sí mismo, tome su cruz y sígame”.

Cuenta la historia que durante la guerra de Independencia de los Estados Unidos, un hombre joven se acerco al general George Washington y le dijo lo siguiente; “Mi general, quiero que sepa que creo con todo mi corazón en usted y en la causa que defiende”. El general Washington le agradeció firmemente aquellas palabras y le pregunto: “¿En que regimiento sirve usted? ¿Quién es su comandante? ¿Qué uniforme lleva?” “Oh no”, respondió el joven, “no estoy en el ejercito, soy solo un civil”. Al oír estas palabras, el general Washington le respondió; “Joven, si usted cree en mi como dice, y también en la causa que defiendo, vaya y únase al ejercito inmediatamente, póngase un nuestro uniforme, busque unas armas y venga conmigo a luchar”.[1]

Este es el mismo reto que nuestro Señor Jesucristo nos hace hoy. El no está interesado en simpatizantes, sino en soldados que estén listos para batallar las fuerzas del enemigo que esta sobre este mundo. Esta es la clase de llamamiento y servicio que el mundo necesita. Necesitamos dejar el orgullo a un lado, la timidez y el miedo y tomar la cruz de Cristo cada día y seguirle. El apóstol Pablo escribe: “Porque Dios no nos ha dado un espíritu de cobardía, sino de poder, de amor y de dominio propio” (2 Timoteo 1:7). Así que deja de ser un simpatizante de la causa de Dios, toma las armas del General de generales, nuestro Señor Jesucristo y defiende Su causa en este mundo. Su Espíritu está contigo para que batalles sin miedo y recuerda que ya tú eres parte del Ejercito del Señor.

Que el Señor te bendiga y te guarde y que permita que estas palabras te ayuden a renovar tu espíritu.

Soldiers not sympathizers

Mark 8:34

“Whosoever will come after me must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me”.

The story goes that during the Independence War of the United States, a young man approached General George Washington and said the following; General, I want you to know that I believe with all my heart on you and the cause you defend”. General Washington thanks him for those words firmly and asked; “What regiment do you serve” Who is your commander? What uniform do you wear?” “Oh no”, replied the young man. “I am not in the army. I am a civilian.” General Washington replied; “Young man, if you believe in me as you said and in the cause that I defend, go and join the army immediately, put on our uniform, find some weapons and come with me to fight”.

This is the same challenge our Lord Jesus Christ is giving to all of us today. He is not interested in sympathizers, but for soldiers who are ready to battle the forces of the enemy the surround this world. This is the kind of call and service this world needs. We need to put aside pride, shyness, and fear and take the cross and follow Christ daily. The apostle Paul writes; “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of self control” (2 Timothy 1:7). So, stop being a sympathizer of the cause of Christ, take up the weapons of the General of generals, our Lord Jesus Christ and defend His cause in this world. His Spirit is with you so you can battle without fear and remember that you are part of God’s army.

Jesús nuestra paz

Mateo 5:9

“Bienaventurados los que trabajan por la paz, porque ellos serán llamados hijos de Dios”.

La violencia en el mundo cada día crece más y más. No tenemos que ir muy lejos para entender que en el mundo de hoy no hay paz. La humanidad continuamente esta tratando de pelear con su prójimo. Envidia, amarguras, ira y odio, son algunas razones por las cuales hay tanta violencia en el día de hoy.

Hay personas que dicen que si eliminamos todos los armamentos de guerra, acabaríamos con la violencia. Otros dicen que si tenemos más control sobre las armas de fuego, esto acabaría con la violencia. El mundo esta lleno de tratados de paz y ceses de fuego los cuales tienen poco a ningún efecto. Ninguna de estas cosas ha solucionado el problema de violencia. El problema de violencia existe desde la creación del mundo, un poco tiempo después de la caída del hombre, cuando Caín mato a su hermano Abel. El problema va a lo mas profundo de nuestro ser. Es un problema del corazón. El hombre no tiene ninguna solución a este problema. Entonces, ¿Cómo podemos solucionar este problema?

No puede haber paz hasta que estemos en paz con aquel que nos creo. Nuestra paz tiene estar centralizada en la persona de Jesucristo. Solo el puede traer el cambio que nuestro corazón desesperadamente necesita. Solo El puede perdonar el pecado que nos separa de Dios. Solo Su paz puede traer verdadera paz, una paz que es duradera. Aceptando, recibiendo, confiando y creyendo en Jesús como Señor y Salvador de nuestras vidas es la única avenida para tener paz con Dios y con el resto el mundo. Paz es un regalo de Dios a través de Jesucristo.

Un trabajador de paz es uno que vive y comunica el mensaje de paz de Jesús. Es aquel que reconoce que paz no se encuentra en ningún otro lugar excepto en la persona de Jesucristo. Ora y da gracias a Dios por todo y la paz de Dios guardara tu corazón en Jesucristo. Que Dios te bendiga y te guarde y que permita que estas palabras te ayuden a renovar tu espíritu.

Jesus Our Peace

Matthew 5:9

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God”.

Violence in our world grows and grows every day. You do not have to go that far to realize that there is no peace in our world today. Man is continually striving against his fellow man. Anger, bitterness, envy and hatred are just a few of the reasons there are so much violence today.

There are some people who would eliminate the weapons of war as a solution to eliminate violence. Others argue that if we have more gun control, this too would eliminate violence. The world is full with peace treaties and ceases fires, which seem to have little or no effect. None of these are going to solve the problem of violence. After all, the problem goes back to the time of creation. Just after the fall when Cain murdered his brother Abel. The problem goes to the very core of our being. This is a problem of the human heart. Man has no solution to the problem of violence. The question is; how can we solve this problem?

There can be no peace until we are at peace with the One who created us. Our peace must be centered in the person of Jesus Christ. He can bring about a change of heart that we so desperately need. Only He can forgive the sins that separate us from God. Only His peace brings true peace that last everlasting. Accepting, receiving, trusting, or believing in Jesus as your Lord and Savior is the only avenue to peace with God and others. Peace is a gift of God thru Jesus Christ.

A peacemaker knows their peace comes from a loving, merciful, and forgiving God. A peacemaker is one that lives and communicates the message of peace in Jesus. A peacemaker knows that peace is not found anywhere else except in the person of Jesus Christ. Pray and give thanks to God and the peace of God will guard your heart in Jesus Christ. God's Amazing Power

God’s Amazing Power

2 Peter 1:3

“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness”. 

During this week I have been with a group of people from my church on a mission trip in New York City. We have been conducting a Vacation Bible School and also participating in some evangelistic projects with my brothers and sisters of the New Beginnings Church in Brooklyn. It has been a wonderful week, where we have seen the power of God working in the lives of these children we have served. All week we've been talking about the amazing power of God, not only on nature but also on our lives.

God has power over our lives and provides that power for whatever He wants us to do. In this verse, Peter begins with the idea that “the best defense is a good offense”. The best way to defend against the mistakes and errors is to immerse ourselves in what is true. The best way to know more about God is to work hard at strengthening our faith. We see this in sports. In pro-football, we have seen teams that can score a bunch of points can sometimes get by with a weaker defense, The strategy is simple. If you have a strong offense you will score a lot of points and you will keep your defense off the field.

So Peter tells us that we have what we need to live, as God wants us to live. Some teams have offensive strategies, but do not have the personnel to make the systems work. Peter assumes us that we have the ability to live a godly life through our relationship with Jesus Christ and by the Holy Spirit who lives with us.

Peter tells us that God has a purpose for us. His purpose, his goal for our lives is that we be part of his family. He wants us to know Him, to love Him, and to walk with Him in fellowship and life. God’s wants His imprint to be seen in and through us. Just as every child reflects various elements of their parents, God’s desires for His nature to be reflect in us. He wants us to be like Him in that way.

God wants us to walk and live in the joy of life. He wants us to know real deliverance for the bondage that sin brings into our lives. God wants to deliver us from the trap of the devil.

So, what is the first step to experiencing the character if God in godly living and freedom from bondage of sin? It is to surrender to Christ as our Savior and Lord this involves, admitting our sinful nature and repent. Believing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and accept God’s gift of forgiveness from sin, and thirdly, confess our faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

Maravilloso Poder de Dios

2 Pedro 1:3

 “Su divino poder nos ha dado todo lo que necesitamos para una vida santa a través de nuestro conocimiento de aquel que nos llamó por su gloria y excelencia”

 Durante esta semana, he estado con un grupo de personas de nuestra iglesia en un viaje misionero en la ciudad de New York. Hemos estado conduciendo una escuela bíblica de vacaciones y también participando en unos proyectos evangelisticos con mis hermanos y hermanas de la Iglesia New Beginnings en Brooklyn. Ha sido una semana maravillosa donde hemos visto el poder de Dios trabajando en la vida de estos niños que hemos servido. Durante toda la semana, hemos estado hablando acerca del maravilloso poder de Dios, no solo sobre la naturaleza, sino también sobre nuestras vidas Dios tiene poder sobre nuestras vidas y establece ese poder para hacer  lo que Él quiere que hagamos. En este versículo, Pedro comienza con la idea de que "la mejor defensa es un buena ofensiva". La mejor manera de defenderse contra los errores que cometemos es sumergimos en lo que es verdadero. La mejor manera de saber más acerca de Dios es a trabajar duro para fortalecer nuestra fe. Esto lo vemos en los deportes. En el futbol profesional, ​​hemos visto equipos que pueden anotar un montón de puntos,  a veces pueden llegar a funcionar con una defensa más débil. La estrategia es simple. Si usted tiene un buena ofensiva, usted que marcará una gran cantidad de puntos y mantendrá su defensa fuera del campo de juego.

Pedro nos dice que tenemos todo lo que necesitamos para vivir como Dios quiere que vivamos. Dios quiere liberarnos de la trampa del diablo.

Entonces, ¿Cuál es el primer paso para experimentar el carácter de Dios en una vida santa y libre del cautiverio del pecado? Es rendirnos a Cristo como nuestro Salvador y Señor. Esto envuelve, primero, admitir que tenemos una naturaleza pecaminosa y arrepentirnos. Segundo, creer que Jesucristo es el Hijo de Dios y aceptar el regalo de Dios de perdón por nuestros pecados.  Y tercero, confesar nuestra fe en Jesucristo como nuestro Salvador y Señor. Que el Señor te bendiga y te guarde y que permita que estas palabras te ayuden a renovar tu espíritu.

Pureza espiritual

Mateo 5:8

Durante los últimos años en nuestra sociedad hay una constante denuncia de la contaminación atmosférica y se lucha por eliminar toda forma de contaminación. Grupos ambientalistas, grupos industriales y el gobierno constantemente están batallando para tratar de mantener un balance entre progreso y la conservación del ambiente. Sin embargo, la contaminación principal en este mundo no es en el ambiente, es en el corazón del hombre. No importa cuántas leyes y regulaciones sean impuestas por las agencias gubernamentales para conservar el ambiente, si su corazón es impuro, el seguirá contaminando toda la tierra y envenenando las relaciones.

En este verso, que es parte de las bienaventuranzas, Jesús nos promete que los de corazón puro verán a Dios. La palabra griega utilizada a través del Nuevo Testamento para describir pureza frecuentemente es traducida por “limpieza”. Esta bienaventuranza puede ser traducida de la siguiente manera; “bienaventurado es aquel con corazón genuino, que es autentico, que nos es falso, porque tal persona vera a Dios”.

Una persona de corazón puro está consciente de que Dios la conoce por dentro y por fuera. Una persona de corazón puro está consciente de que Dios ve cada paso de su vida. Una persona de corazón puro sabe que Dios le conoce y que Dios le ama. Una persona de corazón puro se enfoca en complacer a Dios y hacer Su voluntad siempre.

La pregunta que debes hacerte hoy es; ¿Cuál es la condición de tu corazón?  El corazón es puro solo cuando la sangre de Jesucristo le ha limpiado de todo pecado. Que Dios te bendiga y te guarde siempre y que estas palabras te ayuden a renovar tu espíritu.

Spiritual Purity

In recent years in our society there is a constant complaint about environmental pollution and efforts to eliminate all forms of pollution. Environmental groups, industry groups and government agencies are constantly battling to try to strike a balance between progress and environmental conservation. However, the main contamination in this world is not in the environment, it is at the heart of man. No matter how many laws and regulations are imposed by government agencies to conserve the environment, if your heart is impure, the whole earth will remain polluted and poisoning relationships.

In this verse, which is part of the Beatitudes, Jesus promises us that the pure in heart shall see God. The Greek word used throughout the New Testament to describe purity is often translated as "cleanliness". This beatitude can be translated as follows, "Blessed is the one with genuine heart, which is authentic, who is not fake, because such a person will see God."

A pure-hearted person is aware that God knows them inside and out. A pure-hearted person is aware that God sees every step of their life. A pure-hearted person knows that God knows and love them. A person of pure heart is focused on pleasing God and doing His will always. The question you need to ask now is; what is the condition of your heart? The heart is pure only when the blood of Jesus Christ has cleansed it from all sin. May God bless you and keep you and may these words will help you to renew your spirit.

1 Pedro 4:7-11

Cuenta la historia acerca de un joven llamado Antonio que vivió en un pueblo llamado Cremona en Italia. Este joven se sentía frecuentemente triste porque vivía en un lugar famoso por su música, pero él no podía cantar ni tocar. Su voz no era nada especial, por lo que nunca fue invitado a cantar en el coro de jóvenes de Cremona. Cuando empezó a tomar lecciones de violín, los vecinos convencieron a sus padres de que dejara de tocar. Con todo, Antonio todavía quería tener su parte en el arte musical.

Dios nos ha creado a cada uno de nosotros en una manera en particular con ciertas habilidades y talentos. El te ha hecho único y no hay nadie en el mundo idéntico a ti. El te ha dado por lo menos un talento y El espera que tú lo utilices para Su gloria y honra. ¿Cómo vas a utilizar tu talento y habilidad hoy? Acuérdate tu talento no te pertenece, le pertenece a Dios. Que Dios te bendiga y te guarde y que permita que estas palabras te ayuden a renovar tu Espíritu.

God has created each one of us in a particular way with certain skills and talents. He made you unique and no one in the world is equal to you. La Prioridad en Nuestras Vidas

Eclesiastés 12:1; “Acuérdate de tu Creador en los días de tu juventud, antes que lleguen los días malos y vengan los años en que digas; “No tengo en ellos placer alguno.”

Nuestras vidas están llenas de dificultades. Muchas veces, estas dificultades nos apresuran a tomar decisiones, las cuales en ocasiones, no son las correctas. Otras veces tratamos de satisfacer nuestras vidas con cosas que el mundo ofrece, las cuales al final nos damos cuenta que son temporeras. Las soluciones del mundo nunca mitigan el hambre o la sed de nuestros corazones, porque encontramos en ellas algo temporero.

El Rey Salomón en este libro de Eclesiastés nos da una serie de consejos prácticos para aplicarlos a nuestro diario vivir. El nos recuerda que nos acordemos del Señor en los días de nuestra juventud, no esperes hasta la ancianidad para hacerlo. Esta debe ser nuestra prioridad. La Biblia nos enseña que Dios provee por todas nuestras necesidades. Cuando hacemos de El nuestra prioridad, podemos estar seguros de que el va a obrar en medio de nuestras dificultades de acuerdo a su Santa y divina voluntad.

La pregunta que nos tenemos que hacer hoy es la siguiente; ¿Qué lugar ocupa Dios en tu vida? Si El es tu prioridad, sabemos que podemos ir delante de Su presencia en cualquier momento con cualquier problema o necesidad y tendremos la certeza que Sus oídos estarán atentos a nuestras suplicas. El es Jehova-Jired, nuestro proveedor. El nunca te deja ni te desampara. Esta es Su promesa. Que el Señor te bendiga y te guarde y que permita que estas palabras te ayuden a renovar tu espíritu.

The Priority in our lives

Ecclesiastes 12:1; So remember your Creator in the days of your youth: Before the days of adversity come, and the years approach when you will say; “I have no delight in them”.
Life is full of difficulties. Many times these difficulties rush us to make decisions, which at times are not adequate. Sometimes we try to fulfill our lives with things the world offers, which at the end, we realized that they are temporary. They world solutions never mitigate the hunger and thirst of our hearts, because we discover in them something temporary.

King Solomon in the book of Ecclesiastes gives us a series of practical tips to apply to our daily life. He reminds us that we need to remember the Lord in the days of our youth; do not wait until old age to do so. This must be our priority. The Bible teaches that God provides for all our needs. When we make Him our priority, we can be sure that He will act in the midst of our difficulties according to His Holy and divine will.

The question we have to ask ourselves today is; where is God in my life? If He is your priority, you can rest assure that you can go before His presence at any time with any problem or need and you are confident that His ears will be attentive to our prayers and requests. He is Jehovah-Jirah, our Provider. He will never leave you nor forsake you. That is His promise. May the Lord bless you and keep you and I hope these words will help you renew your spirit. (DEC)

Felicidades Mami/Happy Birthday Mom

Hoy es un día muy especial. Es el cumpleaños número 86 de mi madre. Hace unos años atrás, yo predique un mensaje en honor a mi madre titulado; “Las cosas que aprendí de mi madre”. En su honor, quiero compartir con ustedes algunos consejos que mi madre impartió en mi cuando estaba creciendo.

Mi madre me enseño lógica. "Si cualquier persona brinca de un puente, harías tu lo mismo?

Mi madre me enseño medicina. "Si no paras de cruzar los ojos, se te van a frisar de esa manera."

Mi madre me enseño a pensar en el futuro. "Si no estudias, nunca tendrás un buen trabajo."

Mi madre me enseño a enfrentar retos. "Que estabas pensando. Contéstame cuando te hago una pregunta. No hables cuando te estoy hablando."

Mi madre me enseño comedia. “Te he dicho que no entres nada en los receptáculos eléctricos. No vengas a mi llorando cuando te electrocutes."

Mi madre me enseño a como crece físicamente. "Si no comes viadas y vegetales, nunca crecerás."

Mi madre me enseño acerca de genética. "Tienes el mismo genio de tu padre."

Mi madre me enseño a anticipar las cosas. "Espera a que tu padre llegue a la casa."

Mi madre me enseño acerca del recibir y esperar. “Cuando llegues a casa, vas a ver lo que te espera."

Mi madre me enseño justicia. "Un día vas a tener hijos y espero que salgan como tu, entonces vas a ver todo lo que yo pase contigo."

Mi madre me enseño filosofía. "El que no sigue consejo, no llega a viejo."

Pero lo mas grande que mi madre me enseño fue amar y servir a Dios con todo mi corazón. También me enseño tres principios de la vida; fe, amor y perseverancia.

Gracias mami por todos tus consejos a través de todos estos años. Felicidades en este tu cumpleaños. Que Dios te de muchos años mas de vida y te continúe bendiciendo siempre. Te quiero mucho, tu hijo Bimbi


Today is a very special day. It is my mom’s 86th birthday. A few years ago, I preached a sermon dedicated to my mother titled, “Things I learned from my mother”. In her honor, I wanted to highlight some of mom’s wisdom that she shared with me as I was growing up.

My mother taught me logic. "If anyone jumps off a bridge, would you do the same?

My mother taught me medicine. "If you do not stop crossing your eyes, they will freeze that way."

My mother taught me to think about the future. "If you do not study, you will never have a good job."

My mother taught me to face challenges. "What were you thinking? Answer me when I ask you a question. Do not talk to me when I'm talking to you."

My mother taught me comedy. "I told you not to put anything in the electrical receptacles. Do not come to me crying when you get electrocute."

My mother taught me how to grow; physically. "If you do not eat “viandas” and vegetables, you will never grow."

My mother taught me about genetics. "You have the same personality of your father."

My mother taught me to anticipate things. "Wait until your father gets home."

My mother taught me about receiving and waiting. "When you get home, you'll see what awaits you."

My mother taught me justice. "One day you will have kids and I hope they turned just like you and then you will see how hard it is to be a parent."

My mother taught me philosophy. "He who does not follow advice, do not reach old age."

But the greatest thing my mother taught me was to love and serve God with all my heart. She also taught me three principles of life; faith, love and perseverance.

Thank you, mom for your advice throughout the years. Happy Birthday. May God give you many more years and continue to bless you always. Love you always, you son Bimbi.
