Tratando con las tormentas de la vida/Dealing with the storms of life

 Ese día al anochecer, les dijo a sus discípulos: Crucemos al otro lado. Dejaron a la multitud y se fueron con él en la barca donde estaba. También lo acompañaban otras barcas. Se desató entonces una fuerte tormenta, y las olas azotaban la barca, tanto que ya comenzaba a inundarse.  Jesús, mientras tanto, estaba en la popa, durmiendo sobre un cabezal, así que los discípulos lo despertaron. Maestro! Gritaron ¿no te importa que nos ahoguemos?  Él se levantó, reprendió al viento y ordenó al mar: Silencio! ¡Cálmate! El viento se calmó y todo quedó completamente tranquilo. ¿Por qué tienen tanto miedo? dijo a sus discípulos. ¿Todavía no tienen fe? Ellos estaban espantados y se decían unos a otros: ¿Quién es éste, que hasta el viento y el mar le obedecen? Marcos 4:35-41

Una de las preguntas que muchas personas me hacen cuando están pasando por situaciones difíciles es; ¿Por qué esto me sucede a mí? Muchas veces es difícil comprender como nosotros, como hijos de Dios, podemos pasar por momentos difíciles en nuestra vida. Muchas veces no tenemos una contestación inmediata a ese problema. Esta semana hablaba con una persona que está pasando por una situación difícil. Para esta persona, muchas cosas queridas han sido removidas de su vida y su pregunta para mí era; “Pastor, ¿porque Dios ha permitido que todo esto suceda?” Muchas veces culpamos a Dios por las cosas que suceden en nuestras vidas, pero no nos ponemos a pensar que quizás Dios ha permitido esta situación para hacernos crecer en nuestra fe o prepararnos para algo mejor que Él tiene preparado para el futuro.

 

La historia que encontramos en estos versos vemos que los discípulos de Jesús no estaban exentos de tormentas y pruebas en la vida. ¿Cómo podemos tratar y vencer los problemas de la vida? Jesús nos da la respuesta en estos versos. Primero, podemos estar en la peor tormenta de nuestras vidas, pero la Palabra de Dios nos asegura un aterrizaje seguro. Esta seguridad de que Cristo está con nosotros está escrita a través de toda la Biblia. Segundo, no porque eres hijo de Dios eres exento de las tormentas de la vida. Dios las permite, tienes que estar confiar en Él. Tercero, Dios está en medio de las tormentas. La presencia de Cristo es suficiente para mantenerte a flote. Y por último, la Palabra de Dios nos asegura que nuestra barca está en buenas manos. Jesús esta en control. Deja que él tome el timón de tu barca. El no permitirá que tu vida naufrague. Recuerda esto, seguridad no es la ausencia de problemas, seguridad es la presencia de Jesús en tu vida. A través de las tormentas, Jesús nos enseña valiosas lecciones. Que el Señor te bendiga y te guarde siempre.

Dealing with the storms of life

Mark 4:35-41
That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

One question that many people ask me when they are going through difficult situations is; why is this happening to me?  Often it is difficult to understand how we as children of God, we can go through difficult times in our life. Many times we do not have an immediate answer to that problem. This week I spoke with a person who is going through a difficult situation. For this individual, many dear things have been removed from his life and his question to me was, “Pastor, why God has allowed all this to happen?" Many times we blame God for the things that happen in our lives, but we do not stop and think that maybe God has allowed this situation to make us grow in our faith or to prepare us for something better that he has for our future.

In the story we find in these verses we see that Jesus' disciples were not exempt from storms and trials in life. How can we deal with and overcome the problems of life? Jesus gives us the answer in these verses. First, we can be in the worst storm of our lives, but God's Word assures us a safe landing. This assurance that Christ is with us is written throughout the Bible. Second, not because you are a child of God you are exempt from the storms of life. God allows it, you need to trust Him. Third, God is in the midst of storms. Christ's presence is enough to keep you afloat. And finally, God's Word assures us that our boat is in good hands. Jesus is in control. Let him take the helm of your boat. He will not let your life wrecked. Remember this, security is not the absence of problems, security is the presence of Jesus in your life. Through storms, Jesus teaches us valuable lessons. May the Lord bless you and keep you always.
