Amor: La Virtud mas Importante
de la Vida
Por lo
tanto, como escogidos de Dios, *santos y amados, revístanse de afecto
entrañable y de bondad, humildad, amabilidad y paciencia, de modo
que se toleren unos a otros y se perdonen si alguno tiene queja contra otro.
Así como el Señor los perdonó, perdonen también ustedes. Por encima
de todo, vístanse de amor, que es el vínculo perfecto. Colosenses
3:12-14
Si usted reuniera
un grupo de 10 personas y le preguntase a cada una de ellas que definiera la
palabra amor, lo mas probable usted obtendrá 10 diferentes definiciones. El
diccionario Oxford define la palabra amor como “una intensa afección por otra
persona basada en lazos familiares o personales”[1]
La Biblia no ofrece una definición teórica del amor sino que nos los presenta
mayormente en forma de acción. Amor es la virtud mas importante en la vida del
creyente. Amor es la fundación de todas las virtudes. Amor es lo define al
creyente. El Señor Jesús nos dice; “en esto conocerán todos que son mis
discípulos, si tuviereis amor los unos con los otros” (Juan 13:35).
En estos versos en
la carta a la iglesia en Colosas, Pablo nos presenta una serie de virtudes que
todo creyente debe seguir. En el verso 14 Pablo enfatiza amor; “y sobre todas
estas cosas, vestíos en amor, que es el vinculo perfecto” Esto no es una
opción, es un mandato para todo creyente. Amor es el rasgo que hace que todos
los otros rasgos espirituales sean efectivos. Amor trae unidad. Amor derriba
las murallas de división. Amor comprende en vez de condenar. Amor recoge
aquellos que han caído en vez de patearles. Amor causa que nosotros trabajemos
juntos en vez de competir los unos con los otros.
La gran manera de
alcanzar al mundo es demostrando el amor y compasión de Cristo. Verdadero amor
no es teórico, sino practico. Que el Señor te bendiga y te guarde por siempre.

Therefore,
as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with
compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with
each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against
someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these
virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Colossians 3:12-14
If you meet with a group of 10 people and were to ask each of them to
define the word love, more likely you will get 10 different definitions. The
Oxford dictionary defines love as "an intense affection for another person
based on familial or personal ties " The Bible does not offer a
theoretical definition of love but presents them to us mostly in the form of
action. Love is the most important virtue in the life of a Christian. Love is
the foundation of all virtues. Love is what defines the believer. The Lord
Jesus tells us, "By this all will know that you are my disciples, if ye
have love one to another" (John 13:35).
In these verses in the letter to the church in Colossae, Paul presents a
number of virtues that every believer must follow. In verse 14 Paul emphasizes
love, "And over all these virtues put on love,
which binds them all together in perfect unity " This is not an option;
it is a mandate for every believer. Love is the trait that makes all other
spiritual traits effective. Love brings unity. Love breaks down the walls of division.
Love understands rather than condemn. Love picks up those who have fallen
rather than kick them. Love causes us to work together instead of competing
with each other.
A great way to reach the world is by demonstrating the love and
compassion of Christ. True love is not theoretical, but practical. May the Lord
